What the Wolf Moon Taught Me

Life Balance is something I have always struggled with.

The moon and it's cycles remind me that the natural world thrives on cycles. Whether I want to admit it or not, we are part of the natural world and we have to participate in natural cycles to maintain balance.

This weekend I spent a lot of time under the full moon thinking about recent changes and where they will lead us.

I have been wondering how I might find balance with all of the new challenges in life that have arrived with becoming a new mother.

I laid in the snow, looking up at the full moon which was sliding behind clouds of white, grey, and black, wondering about all of the changes, and the challenges of this new life, and looking for insight on how to adjust to it all.

I was reminded that balance is not simply stumbled upon or found. It is not a collection of the right things done and said. Balance is also a verb- a constant adjusting act informed by our priorities and constant reflection.

Balance, in the dictionary, is: to keep or put (something) in a steady position so that it does not fall, AND/OR to offset or compare the value of (one thing) with another.

In order to balance my life I need to spend my time with intention, comparing my priorities, desires and needs, as well as the needs and desires of the people and creatures I have been tasked with serving and caring for in this life.

Balance isn't found, it is created through intention and reflection.

With this in mind, here are five ways I am working on balancing my life this week.

1- Writing down my intentions for the day..

2- Deciding what is urgent, important, and/or both.

3- Evaluating my intentions vs my actions, and how different these two aspects of life are and why.

4- Affording myself grace when my intentions for each day aren't always reflected in my actions.

5- Letting this self-analysis influence my intentions for the next day.

This process in itself is a cycle.

What thoughts, feelings, and emotions did you have under the Wolf Moon this weekend?

I would love to read about them in the comments below!
