Snack Sticks are BACK- Now in Mild Pepper and Dill Pickle!

The best time to work on your Tan in Wyoming is.....

It has been a weirdly-warm Fall so far,

I have heard a wide range of reactions to the weather we have been having from my friends.

Some are thoroughly enjoying it, some are flat-out hating it, and some are being pushed into anxiety by it...

Where do you fit on this fall-weather-reaction spectrum?

Given the large fires burning across the state, I can understand why people are praying for cooler temps and snow to come ASAP.

Peter, however is working on his tan lines more than ever before...

That fall sun gets super intense as the axis of the earth tilts us north-hemispherians a bit closer to the sun this time of year.

I myself, have been working on a different type of tan, however.

Fall is a time for harvesting, preserving, and tanning hides!

This year I have around 30 hides to work through, and this warm weather has allowed Peter and me to jump right into the process.

For the past four years I have thoroughly enjoyed allowing others to participate in this incredible process of reducing waste and preserving a really beautiful piece of what my flock beautifully transforms from pure Wyoming sunshine every year.

I do this through my online, self-paced, hide tanning course every fall.

My Virtual Hide Tanning Course will be open starting November 1st this year.

Hides are up on my website now, and students of the course will have first choice in which color hide they would like (if you would like to purchase a hide from my flock to work on while you learn).

You are welcome to source your own hide for the course, but I recommend that it be a sheep, goat, rabbit, or deer hide. Anything larger can be quite overwhelming for a first-time hide tanner!

Sheepskins are really the perfect skins to start tanning with. They yield such a beautiful finished-product, that just makes the journey so much more enjoyable and rewarding.

Check out the details on my Patreon, here.

If you want to leave the hard work of hide tanning to your FarmHer, I do have already-finished Icelandic Sheep hides for sale up on my website now. These are last-year's batch of sheepskins that I tanned my way through all summer long.

Check out the hides I have available now, here.

This season's hides will be added to my online store in November/December, in time for the holidays- so if you do not see the color you would like, stay tuned!

Here's to some Fall moisture for us dried-up raisins out West, and a break from the moisture for the soaking wet folks in the Southeast.

Happy Fall!
