I tried something pretty crazy this year,
I turned a huge portion of my lamb crop into tasty, and nutritious snack sticks to sell in Food Freedom Storefronts across the state of Wyoming.
|
I did this for a few reasons... but the ones I think are the most important to me are,
to make our lamb more accessible, to support the growing network of local food stores in the state, and to offer you a versatile product that you can enjoy anywhere.
|
What these snack sticks are doing for our environment...
These snack sticks are a true local-food-masterpiece, completely born, grazed, finished, and processed within a 20 mile radius.
For most meats consumed in the US , this production radius is 75 times greater...
By the time the calf that was born to create your steak makes it to your dinner plate, that bovine has travelled 1,500 miles.
Lamb has a much further travel itinerary, as most lamb on grocery store shelves in the US comes from other countries such as Australia, and New Zealand- 7,541 miles from Laramie, Wyoming.
Talk about a carbon footprint...
What these snack sticks are doing for our community...
Taste of the Wind snack sticks are now in 6 different brick-and-mortar stores across Wyoming.
Every time you buy a package of our snack sticks, you not only are supporting our farm and family, but you are supporting our local butcher and all of the employees who work there, the Food Freedom Storefronts and all of the people behind it, as well as the movement to have local foods available year-round from small farms and businesses throughout Wyoming.
Here is a list of where you can support this movement, all of these small-medium scale local businesses, and our small farm at the same time:

What these snack sticks are doing for YOU!
It was very important to me to keep this product as clean and as simple as possible, after all of the work I put in to keep our lamb clean, and free of any antibiotics, vaccines, pesticides, hormones, fertilizers, additives, and any other substances we don't want to be eating.
Luckily, 307 Meat Company offers an all-natural cure with Celery Salt, Acerola Cherry for color, and an all-natural collagen casing, in multiple flavors!
This year, we went with our classic Mild Pepper, that has been a crowd favorite for a few years now. AND, we also tried out a new flavor that was particularly popular, back when we had a variety-batch of beef jerky made at 307 Meat Co a couple of years ago...
You can now find both flavors of snack sticks across the state, and I am currently working on getting them stocked in a few more locations in Wyoming and Montana.

Wish me luck as my little sheep flock works its way into the hearts and mouths of local-food connoisseurs far and wide
(but not too far, because that wouldn't be local food anymore.)
You can order our snack sticks on my website and they will ship direct to your door!
Check out the 4 flavors we have available HERE.
Let me know what you think of them when you try them.
I have tested them out on a wide audience of "lamb-haters" and have yet to experience anyone who did not enjoy them.
I hope you can taste the love, care, sweat, tears, sunshine, fresh air, and nutrients bundled into these mighty snack packs!
